2021 LYFA FILMMAKING SUMMER CAMP - JULY 7-21
The Lakewood Young Filmmakers Academy Summer Camp is a multi-faceted filmmaking experience in which the students write, shoot and edit a real film from start to finish with the help of award winning industry professionals and mentors. The camp culminates in a Red Carpet Premiere of their film where their movie will be seen by a packed house of filmmakers, media, fans, friends and family.
Films made by our students are receiving international recognition and awards at film festivals all over the world. Last year's film, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LINE, won Best Picture at the International KidsNFilm Festival. Other festivals include Brooklyn Film Festival in NY and Toronto International Women's Film Festival to name a few.
LYFA not only teaches your child how to make a real Hollywood film, but provides them with the excitement and wonder of becoming award winning filmmakers. Space is limited so register TODAY!
REGISTER FOR THE 2021 SUMMER FILM CAMP
Now in our 5 year, Lakewood Young Filmmakers Academy continues to grow and adapt with the times. In an effort to make our camp safe in times of COVID we have changed our format to allow for smaller groups. This not only makes our students and staff safer, but allows our campers to choose a more focused discipline (i.e. acting, crew, costumes, editing) but also allows each student to have a greater impact on the final product.
The Camp will be segmented into three groups: WRITERS, CREW and EDITORS. Each group will be scheduled for different days to allow for smaller groups and social distancing. it will also eliminate downtime in the camp and allow your child to focus on the position(s) they are most interested in.
Please take a look at our new structure and make your registration choices accordingly.
WEEK 1: WRITING & CASTING (July 7,8 and 9) 9AM-2PM
Every great film begins with a blank piece of paper or an empty computer screen, until the story flows out of its writer. In this three day segment of the camp, the students will brainstorm story and theme ideas and write the script that will become the blueprint for the entire camp project. Casting decisions will be made by the participants in this segment as well.
(Mentors include: Eric Swinderman and Jeffrey Lange)
WEEK 2: PRODUCTION AND ACTING (July 12-16) 9AM-2PM
Once the script has been printed and the actors have been cast it's time for lights, camera and action. In this week long segment the the film will be shot. Crew positions include directors, camera operators, boom operators, grips, gaffers, costumes and prop, hair and makeup, miscellaneous crew and actors.
(Mentors include: Patrick Antone, Eric Swinderman, Lee McLaughlin)
WEEK 3: POST-PRODUCTION AND EDITING (July 19, 20 and 21) 9AM-2PM
Once all the footage has been shot, the task of putting it all together falls on the post production team in this 3 day segment. From editing, to color correction, to music and special effects, this team has the final say in what the world gets to see.
(Mentors include: Hollie Brubaker, Byron Brubaker, Eric Swinderman)
SPACE IS LIMITED IN EACH SEGMENT. YOU MAY CHOOSE 1, 2 OR ALL THREE PHASES OF THE PRODUCTION, UNTIL SLOTS ARE FILLED IN EACH.
