The Lakewood Young Filmmakers Film Festival was specifically created to inspire young filmmakers ages 7-17 to express themselves through the cinematic arts. LYFFF wants to be the national leader in promoting the work of young artists from all walks of life.

Call For Entries

The Lakewood Young Filmmakers Film Festival is now accepting submissions in the following categories:

  • Feature Length (45-90 mins) Ages 7-10

  • Short Film (under 45 mins) Ages 7-10

  • Feature Length (45-90 mins) Ages 11-14

  • Short Film (under 45 mins) Ages 11-14

  • Feature Length (45-90 mins) Ages 15-17

  • Short Film (under 45 mins) Ages 15-17

Contest Rules

  • You must be between the ages of 7 and 17 at the time of submission to enter this contest.

  • There will be separate age categories for the submissions.

  • All movies must be PG or G. No guns may be used (real or fake.) No realistic depiction of violence may be included in the film. Be scary but not gory.

  • Entries must be filmed and edited by the person or persons submitting. Your parents can help but the idea and execution needs to come from you. It is a kids contest after all.

  • You can submit more than one movie (separate fees apply for each submission)

  • All submissions that meet the deadline will be judged. The judges will decide if your movie is appropriate for public screening. The deadline is July 20th at 11:59pm.

  • Selected movies will be shown at a public screening at a yet TBD theater.

  • Winners will be announced at the screening.

  • All movies will be displayed on website starting a few days after the festival.

Judges

Hollie Brubaker
Hollie Brubaker is an two time Emmy Award winning TV and film producer and owner of Thespis Media Video Production Services. She is an advocate for women’s issues a strong believer in creating awareness of arts education for young girls. She teaches video editing at the school.
Eric Swinderman

Eric Swinderman is an Emmy nominated TV producer and award winning filmmaker from Lakewood, Ohio.  In 2015, he was honored by his alma mater, Cleveland State University, named one of its 50 Most Fascinating Alumni.
